Google's LIVELY –A Free Virtual Platform to Create Avatars

Recently, Google launched Lively, a new social network built around the concept of each user creating an avatar and a personal virtual room. This is similar to creating avatars just like other websites including Slide, RockYou, and SecondLife.

Possibly Google is aiming at making a source to earn revenue through this virtual world. Though Lively is a free product as of now yet there are enough hits at the monetization potential Google that is looking at with this virtual product.

This may pose a threat to the popularity of SecondLife if it becomes a hit among users. As always, Google’s free offering erodes competitors’ market share and increases users’ loyalty for its free offerings.

How to use LIVELY?

Sign in with existing Google Account. If you don’t have the one, Sign up now! Download a browser plug in and then engage in creating whole lot of funny cartoon characters. Some of the features of Lively include:

•Chat and interact with your friends in rooms you design
•Customize your avatar and stream personal photos and video
•invite your friends to chat and help decorate
